AntsOnDeck is a fast, accurate, and robust system for Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) that autonomously generates optimised routes, as well as obstacle avoidance manoeuvres.
Inspired by nature, AntsOnDeck uses an approach known as ant colony optimisation which is based on how ants forage for food. Routes are optimised against user driven parameters of fuel efficiency, time elapsed, and risk accumulated. Risk is attributed to both static and dynamic obstacles and the user may also designate risk to areas of the environment. The USVs vessel dynamics are used to determine manoeuvrability, as well as the fuel cost of a route. This cost also takes into account environmental factors, such as current and weather forecasts to influence the final outcome.
AntsOnDeck uses a modular open architecture approach and industry standard data formats to simplify its integration to your system.
Whilst AntsOnDeck is currently maritime focused, the underlying algorithm also has utility for Air and Ground Autonomous systems, and we would be more than happy to discuss applications in those areas, and indeed in using the system to produce optimised routes for manned platforms or even personnel.
